About us

Welcome to Baitiana!

My name is Mariam, and I’m a proud Lebanese mom of five living in Canada. I’m also the creator of Baitiana, a place where I share a delightful mix of Middle Eastern and international recipes that you can enjoy—whether you’re cooking for yourself or feeding your family.

Baitiana was born in mid-2019, and the name comes from the Lebanese word for “my house.” It reflects the warmth, love, and comfort of home-cooked meals, which I aim to bring to your kitchen with every recipe I share.

My Cooking Journey: From Childhood to a Passionate Hobby

My love for cooking began in childhood. Growing up in Lebanon, I was always by my mom’s side in the kitchen. I was her right hand, chopping vegetables and assisting with prep work. However, I never actually cooked a full meal on my own—my role was more about helping out and learning from her.

Everything changed when I got married and moved from Lebanon to Canada to be with my husband. Our tastes in food were quite different. He loved dishes I wasn’t accustomed to making, and I realized that in order to make our meals together enjoyable, I would need to learn to cook both the meals I loved and the ones he enjoyed. This marked the beginning of my real cooking journey.

At first, I was hesitant to put myself out there. I wasn’t into social media, but my sisters were my biggest supporters. I used to send them pictures of the dishes I made, and they encouraged me to start my own cooking page. They believed in me, and their encouragement was exactly what I needed to take that next step.

With my husband’s diverse tastes and my own love for experimenting in the kitchen, I began exploring new recipes, techniques, and flavors. It was a time of growth, where I truly learned to embrace cooking as both a skill and a passion.

And that’s how I went from a helping hand in the kitchen to a full-fledged cooking enthusiast with a desire to share my creations with the world.

The Joy of Recreating and Connecting with Other

Whenever we ate at a restaurant and found a dish we both loved, I would take note of the ingredients and challenge myself to recreate it at home. I would test and refine the recipe over and over until I perfected it.

I love receiving messages or meeting people who follow me on my social media platforms and tell me how much they’ve learned from my videos and recipes. It warms my heart when newlyweds say I’ve helped them in their marriage by making cooking easier for them. Moments like these make my journey even more fulfilling.

Expanding My Culinary Journey

I started on Instagram, where people were very supportive and loved the idea of sharing cooking videos to teach homemade meals. Since I have a family, I shared what I cooked for them, which resonated with many people. Later, I expanded to TikTok , YouTube, and Instagram , and finally, I took the big step of launching my own website, where I could share detailed recipes.
