Ingredients

For the topping:

  • 2 bananas
  • 1/2 cup brown or golden sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter

For the cake

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 ripe banana mashed
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar or extract
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 3/4 cup milk

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line a round baking tray with parchment paper. In a small pan, melt the butter with the brown sugar for a few minutes, then pour and spread evenly at the bottom of the tray.
  • Slice the 2 bananas and arrange them neatly on top of the sugar-butter layer.
  • In a bowl, beat the eggs with sugar until fluffy. Add the vegetable oil, mashed banana, vanilla, cinnamon, baking powder, and milk. Mix until smooth.
  • Gradually fold in the flour until everything is well combined.
  • Pour the batter evenly over the banana slices.
  • Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Remove from oven and carefully flip the cake onto a serving plate, then peel off the parchment paper.
  • Serve warm or cold—both are delicious!
