Crispy honey hot chicken wings

Crispy Honey Hot Wings are the perfect combination of sweet,
spicy, and savory flavors. First, the wings are coated
in a blend of seasonings and corn starch,
which gives them that irresistible crispy texture when cooked.
Then, they are tossed in a sticky, golden sauce
made with honey and hot sauce, creating the ideal balance of heat and sweetness.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken wings
  • 3 tbsp corn starch
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Garnish:

  • Sesame seeds
  • Green onion

Honey hot Sauce

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp hot sauce
  • 1 tsp corn starch
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  • Clean and wash the wings with cold water and vinegar.
  • Pat them dry with a paper towel.
  • Add salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, chili flakes, and corn starch. Mix until well combined.
  • Spray a tray with oil, then line the wings on the tray. It’s best to use a tray or a metal tray with lines.
  • Cook the wings in the Airfryer at 400°F for 14 minutes, or bake in the oven.
  • After 8 minutes, flip the wings and cook for another 6 minutes. They should be crispy and golden. If baking in the oven, bake at 450°F until golden and crispy.
  • Make the sauce by combining honey, hot sauce, and mixing corn starch with water. Then, add it to the mixture.
  • Stir until the sauce thickens, which should take about 2 minutes.
  • Add the wings to the sauce and mix well. Sprinkle with sesame seeds (optional) and garnish with green onions.
  • Serve with ranch dressing.

Notes

1. Dry the Wings Thoroughly:
Before seasoning, make sure to pat the wings dry with paper towels. This helps remove excess moisture and ensures they become crispy when cooked.
2. Use Corn Starch for Extra Crispiness:
To get an extra crispy exterior, add a little more corn starch to your seasoning mix. Corn starch helps create a light, crunchy texture when the wings cook.
3. Don’t Overcrowd the Pan:
Whether you’re using the Airfryer, oven, or deep fryer, avoid overcrowding the wings. This allows them to cook evenly and become crispier. If needed, cook in batches.
4. Flip the Wings Halfway Through Cooking:
For even crispiness, flip the wings halfway through cooking, whether you’re baking, frying, or Airfrying. This ensures both sides become golden and crispy.
5. Adjust the Heat Level:
If you prefer milder wings, reduce the amount of chili flakes or hot sauce in the recipe. On the other hand, if you like your wings extra spicy, feel free to add more! You can use either sriracha or hot sauce for the sauce. However, keep in mind that sriracha is spicier and will add more heat to your wings.
7. Garnish for Extra Flavor and Presentation:
Top your wings with sesame seeds and fresh green onions. Not only do they add flavor, but they also enhance the visual appeal of the dish.
8. Try Different Cooking Methods:
You can cook the wings in several ways. For a quicker, healthier option, use the Airfryer. Alternatively, deep fry for extra crunch, or grill for a smoky flavor.
9. Serve with Dipping Sauces:
For extra flavor, serve the wings with ranch or blue cheese dressing on the side. These cooling dips, in turn, help balance out the heat from the wings, enhancing the overall taste.
