Ingredients

  • 300 g shrimp
  • 1 lb tenderloin or chuck beef thinly sliced
  • 1 lb chicken thinly sliced
  • 3 tbsp fresh ginger grated
  • 6 cloves fresh garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce or more as needed
  • 2 tbsp Oil for cookin
  • 1 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce or as needed
  • 400 g udon noodles or your favorite noodles
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • Sriracha optional
  • 2 cups short-grain or jasmine rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • Carrots
  • Broccoli
  • Onion
  • Mushrooms
  • Baby corn
  • Cabbage optional
  • Sesame seeds
  • Sriracha
  • Sesame sauce

Instructions

  • Marinate the ProteinCut the chicken and beef into thin strips. Place each in a separate bowl and marinate with ginger, garlic, and soy sauce. Marinate the shrimp the same way.
    2. Cook the RiceWash and soak the rice for 5 minutes, then drain. Add hot water and bring to a boil. Cover, reduce the heat to low, and cook for 10 minutes. Turn off the heat and let it sit covered for another 10 minutes. Fluff with a fork.
    3. Prepare the NoodlesCook the noodles according to the package directions. Drain and toss with a little sesame oil.
    4. Prepare the VegetablesWash and cut the vegetables into bite-sized pieces.
    5. Cook the Vegetables and NoodlesHeat a flat-top grill or large skillet and add a little oil. Cook the vegetables on one side and the noodles on the other. Add soy sauce to the vegetables. Toss the noodles with sesame oil and teriyaki sauce. Add Sriracha if desired. Transfer to a serving dish when done.
    6. Cook the ProteinTurn the heat up and add a little more oil. Cook the chicken, beef, and shrimp separately, leaving space between them so they can brown. The shrimp will cook quickly, so remove them as soon as they’re done. Continue cooking the chicken and beef until browned and cooked through.
    7. Add Teriyaki SauceAdd teriyaki sauce to the chicken and beef and toss until well coated and glossy.
    8. ServeServe the chicken, beef, shrimp, vegetables, noodles, and rice together. Finish with sesame seeds, Sriracha, and sesame sauce. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You can make this recipe with one, two, or three proteins.
  • Use your favorite vegetables.
  • Udon noodles are my favorite, but any noodles will work.
  • A flat-top grill gives you that fun hibachi-style cooking experience, but a cast-iron skillet works beautifully too.
  • Cook the proteins separately so each one gets nicely browned.
  • Don’t overcook the shrimp.
  • Adjust the soy sauce and teriyaki sauce to your taste.
  • Keep Sriracha on the side if you’re serving children.
  • This recipe is very easy to customize based on what you have at home.
  • If making a large batch, cook the ingredients in batches instead of overcrowding the grill.
  • For meal prep, prepare all the ingredients ahead of time and cook everything fresh when you’re ready to eat.
